This foundation level is ideal for students who have no knowledge of the English language.

Threshold, level 2
This level is ideal for students who have learnt a few words or expressions but are not yet able to speak or understand English.

Beginner, level 3
This level is ideal for students who speak conversational English with difficulty. Students at this level should be able to understand simple directions. Great for students who are at the pre-emergent or emergent level of English writing and reading.

Basic developing, level 4
This level is for students who understand and speak conversational English with decreasing difficulty. A post emergent student developing reading comprehension and writing skills in English. A student who can demonstrate knowledge with assistance.

Basic Advanced, level 5
This level is for students who understand and speak conversational English without difficulty, but has some hesitancy with academic English. A student who needs assistance in acquiring reading and writing skills in content areas needed to achieve grade expectations.

Intermediate, level 6
This level is for students who understand and speak conversational and academic English well. A student almost proficient in reading and writing, who has content area skills required to meet grade-level expectations. A student who requires only occasional support.

Advanced intermediate, level 7
This level is for students who were formerly limited in English proficiency but now write and speak with ease. The student reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English within academic classroom settings.

Advanced, level 8
This level is for students who can speak fluent English, can read and write well and have good English comprehension skills.

Advanced A, level 9
This level is for students who can speak fluent English, can read and write and have a good English intellectual capacity.
